I'm going to bug AKAI about this and perhaps you can too. So basically firmware can change the mode of these oh-so-wonderful knobs to a function where they repeat a value on the anti-clockwise, and repeat a different value on the clockwise. I've downloaded and installed the latest 1.10 firmware just to make sure I'm not making a fool of myself. i had wondered why that step existed on the MPD24's editing if there was no other option, and now we know.Īnd you can also bet this is 100% firmware controlled. You may try to play with Rotary Sensitivity and Acceleration to see how better worst it will be for you.Ĭlick to expand. How rude! I must retort! It's obvious that MPD24 owners have been robbed of a feature! Yes, we see 'cntrl change' but it's the only option. Now move your encoder and see how it browse in the Tree. click on Add in (or duplicate the previous) The above set the Increment, let's do the Decrementġ. you should see CNTL Change, now change it to INC/DEC using the value encoder (top right)Ĥ. You LCD should show the Midi Channel (1A), then CTRL #, then it's value. Move the encoder you want to use, let's say K1.Ģ. Let's see how it work on my MPD32, and see if it work the same way on your MPD24.ġ. the 'note' is what to look for in traktorįor the MPD32, I directly edit control config using the Edit button or within Vyzex editor. covert 2nd byte seen in SendSX from hex into decimalģ. I have SOOOO been looking for one of these:ġ. I can also get the mpd to produce aftertouchĪ5 01 xx - loads of these aftertouch valuesĪll of these codes (95/a5/85) relate to different data types all on ch6 and i'm wondering if (1) traktor can read all data types and (2) if is can read the 3rd byte of a "note on" type or only from control signals like the knobs (in the B0 - BF range) Now i have to figure out how traktor sees that - does anyone know how these bytes of midi data translate into the weird and wonderful CC's and note's we see in traktor? The velocity is sent as different data type, and the midi data is 95 01 xx where xx is the velocity. Ok, so I have PAD 1 set up to be "note 001" on midi channel 6A, and the midi data for striking that pad is 85 01 00 I was hoping that maybe it came across as a different not altogether.Īnyway, if i discover anything i'll post it here! However, having spoken to akai (not very helpful) the guy implied that the aftertouch data comes with the note and he doubted traktor would pick that up. Yeh i have played with midi learn and traktor is irreverent.Īs for looking at what is coming across midi that's the next thing to check out. My other controller is a scs3d which I'm using to control all 4 decks with 1x 3d. If anyone's interested in my mapping let me know, although like I say, the pads are pretty much being used for cue point stuf - so one row maps a cuepoint, next row activates it as a one hit, next row as a cue play. Thanks hugely in advance of any helpful response.

Is there a way the knob must be set up within the MPD plus a way to set it up in Traktor to provide truly 'endless' 360 action? Basically the same functionality you'd expect from a platter on a midi controller - they're 360 but never max out - so what's the difference. Sure, the knob keeps twisting buy that's actually more annoying than if the thing stopped. But if I map a knob to more than one function, ramp up value one, then switch to value two, I can't go up any further because the encoder has hit a midi value of 127. In this youtube video ( ) the akai guy implies that you can use the knobs for more than one function. My other BIG HUGE question about this baby is about the rotary encoder knobs. One thing I haven't figured, and don't know if it's possible (and neither do Akai, they said ask here) is if Traktor can pick up the aftertouch/velocity/pressure data? I haven't got a solid idea of how I'd use this but wanted to play around with it.įor example, I could keep bashing a cue point and have the pressure control volume, filter, key, fx dry/wet or something like that and have a bit more creative fun with my cue points. This is sort of my 2nd controller so I'm mainly using the 64 pad bank for cue point juggling over 4 decks. I'm using an MPD24 with TP and have had no problem mapping this thing for most of the functions I desire.
